Open Secret investigation reveals two Akwa Ibom soccer stars rocking the round leather game for the same Saudi Arabian Clubside, Al-Nojoom.
Al-Nojoom FC (Arabic: النجوم‎) is a Saudi Arabian professional sports club based in Al-Hasa, they play their home games in Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium. The Akwa Ibom football exports in the club happen to be the only two Nigerians in the line up,meet them;
Anthony was born 20 July 1994, he is a Nigerian footballer of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State origin who plays for Al-Nojoom Football Club as a winger.
On leaving the shores of Nigeria, Tony’s blossoming career started in Europe with Königliche Allgemeine Sportvereinigung Eupen (often simply known as Eupen) a Belgian association football club based in the city of Eupen in the German-speaking Community of Belgium, in the province of Liège where he spent five years before moving to Al-Wakrah for two years.
Thereafter, he proceeded to Al-Markhiya Sports Club,  a Qatari multi-sports club, based in the Al Markhiya district of Doha.
In one of his best form, Bassey’s career received a boost in Doha, where the club’s football department plays in the Qatargas League. It was widely regarded as the fastest improving team due to it winning the Second Division league 4 times in the first 5 it has taken part of. It has also entered history by being the first second division club to be promoted to the Qatar Stars League.
George is a striker for top Qatari club Al-Nojoom. He made his professional debut for Plateau United during the 2011–2012 season, in which he became the club’s all-time leading goal scorer, with 18 goals. He had attracted interest from the Norwegian club Viking FK, however he failed to transfer, since Plateau United were battling relegation, and they refused to let him go.
In January 2012 Akpabio was transferred to the South African club Ajax Cape Town. He has since played for other top South African clubs on loans and transfers.
After 3 years, on 16 July 2015, Akpabio moved to Europe to join Yeni Malatyaspor, playing in the TFF First League, the 2nd tier of professional football in Turkey. He has also had a stint with Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem as striker in Liga Leumit, 2nd professional football league in Israel.
