A non governmental organization, No Sidon Look has flagged off an assessment tour of the 18 Local Government councils in Cross River State.

The founder, Portrait Peterson had disclosed this on Friday in Calabar during a press conference where he said that the assessment tour was part of the organization’s activity record for 2021.

True to his words, the tour commenced on Monday, May 10, 2021 with Calabar South and Bakassi Local Government Areas in focus. The Chairman of Calabar South, Hon. (Mrs) Esther Bassey and her Bakkassi counterpart Hon. Iyadim Iyadim were on ground to receive the team and journalists for briefing, after which they were led on a facility tour of the council secretariat and projects carried out by their administration within one year in office.


No Sidon Look is a civil society group with the focus of getting citizen’s involved in governance, the LGA tour train is expected to proceed to other local government areas of the state, as Calabar Municipal and Odukpani will have their turn on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

According to Mr Peterson, the LGA tour is to evaluate the performance of the council chairmen in relation to the core functions of the local government, which includes education; public health, town planning, roads and transport, and waste disposal, noting that council heads have a role to play in delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
