COVID 19: FG ISSUES NEW RESTRICTIONS STARTING TUESDAY

The Nigerian government has announced a nationwide lockdown starting from Tuesday, May 11, 2021 according to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control.

“We are seeing a rapid escalation in the number of cases in countries where people gathered in large numbers with poor adherence to public health & social measures and emergence of new variants”

“We must avoid a similar situation in Nigeria”, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu said while speaking at the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 National Briefing.

Following the announcement, the use of facemasks has become mandatory in public offices and places, gathering of people above 50 is not permitted, while restaurants and bars are to remain shut till further notice.
